Associate Pastor / Director of Community Care and Engagement

We are seeking a dedicated and dynamic individual to join our team as an Associate Pastor (if credentialed) or Director of Community Care and Engagement. This position will be responsible for leadership in the areas of congregational and community care giving, engagement, and outreach for UMMMC. They will also serve as the campus pastor / director of the Third Ave and Paris campuses, which includes weekly preaching responsibilities at both locations.

POSITION TYPE: Direct Hire (Non-Appointed) / Less Than Full-Time / Salary / Exempt
 

REPORTS TO: Executive Pastor

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Preaching and Worship Leadership:

  • Deliver engaging and inspiring sermons at the Paris and Third Ave campuses on a weekly basis.

  • Collaborate with the executive pastor and worship team to plan and execute meaningful worship experiences that resonate with our diverse congregation.

  • Assist in the coordination of special services, events, and seasonal programs

 

2. Congregational Care:

  • Provide pastoral care and support to church and community members.

  • Foster a culture of care and community within the congregation, ensuring that all members feel valued, supported, and connected.

  • Coordinate visitation efforts and congregational care teams to reach out to individuals and families in hospitals, nursing homes, and homebound situations.

 

3. Ministry Leadership:

  • Lead and oversee ministry teams related to congregational and community care giving, engagement, and outreach by providing guidance, support, and resources to ensure their success.

  • Collaborate with staff and volunteers to develop and implement ministry initiatives that align with the church's mission and vision.

  • Equip and empower volunteers to use their gifts and talents effectively in service to the church and community.


4. Collaboration and Communication:

  • Work closely with the executive pastor, other directors, ministry staff, and lay leadership to promote unity, teamwork, and shared vision.

  • Communicate effectively with church members, staff, and community partners through various channels including preaching, teaching, writing, and social media.

  • Participate in staff meetings, planning sessions, and other church activities as needed.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Credentialed as a clergy person (Local Pastor, Deacon, Elder) in good standing in the United Methodist Church.

  • Master of Divinity degree or equivalent from an accredited theological institution.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Demonstrated preaching ability and a passion for communicating the Gospel in relevant and creative ways.

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to connect with people of diverse backgrounds and ages.

  • Leadership experience in a church or ministry setting, with the ability to lead teams and manage projects effectively.

  • Commitment to the values and mission of United Methodist Ministries of Mecosta County.

  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.

  • Ability to travel between campus locations within Mecosta County, including a valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation.


COMPENSATION PACKAGE:

  • Salary, $25,000 - $40,000 (based on experience)

  • Housing

  • 3% Retirement Contribution (after 12 months)
